Notes

Short notes,
written by hand.

Lessons from building for small businesses. They keep coming up.

Note 01 — Spreadsheets

Run old and new together

We moved an electronics retailer off spreadsheets. The risk wasn't code. It was cutover.

Old and new ran in parallel. Mistakes cost nothing. Big-bang migrations ruin businesses — parallel is the fastest safe route.

Note 02 — Security

Your weakest module sets security

Attackers don't attack your strongest door. They use the module where checks were forgotten.

Security is a property of the whole system. Or it isn't real.

Note 03 — AI agents

Memory beats the model

We built 40+ cooperating agents. The hard problems were never the model. They were memory, visibility, permissions.

Ask the memory question first. It's the difference between demo and colleague.

Note 04 — Buying software

Get paperwork. Keep your code.

A proper engagement has boring documents: agreement, schedule, maintenance. Boring means everyone knows who does what.

Insist in writing: code and data belong to you.
